Are you busy?



Are you busy?

I am asked this question on average 3-5x a day. I don't like the question...
1. Because it's one of these robotic questions we ask such as how are you?
2. I'm not sure exactly what you want to know. Do I work 50 hour weeks? No I don't. Am I doing stuff all day? Yes I am but I don't feel busy
3. When I answer no I often get sympathy!

But I don't feel busy because I wake up every morning and practice yoga/ meditate and that calms my mind. This helps me to keep my mind focused and present to what I'm experiencing. When the mind is calm you just don't feel busy. Life becomes more and more effortless and that feels good

To support making my actions and life feel as effortless as possible I avoid rush hour driving, I don't cram as many clients as I can into 1 day, I walk slowly as often as I can. I try and be as present as I can and really listen to people and what they're expressing.

This means I get to enjoy the little things that make life meaningful. Those tiny moments that we miss out on when we're so busy.

So the next time you answer with pride about how busy you've been in the day, week or year think clearly about what you have had to sacrifice to live this way. Think about how you could make your actions feel more effortless... I'll end my rant with one of my favourite sayings
